What are these scales!?

Woman's Own - - ASK THE DOCTOR -

Q I have a patch of red scaly skin on my forearm. It has been there for months. It is sometimes itchy and the scales will fall off but then reappear. Should I be worried? A You should definitely get this checked out by your GP. It could be nothing more than eczema or psoriasis, but there is a possibility that it could be an area of Bowen’s disease. This is a really early form of skin cancer that is easily treated. Sometimes we freeze the lesions off. We can also use creams, laser or remove it with surgery. It’s important to get it looked at though as if is not treated it can occasionally turn into a different type of skin cancer.
