Outside exercise, especially walking, helps combat Seasonal Affective Disorder. Helen Hanson from The SAD Association (SADA) says, ‘Not only is natural daylight – even on an average day – better than any light box, exercise is also known to make us feel better. Morning or midday light which has more ‘blue’ content is the most valuable, especially in winter, and will help to improve mood and metabolism during the day. Sunlight also helps to bring our circadian rhythms (body clock) into line which leads to improved sleep patterns.’
