Pri­ori­tis­ing child men­tal health

Three doc­tors’ Royal Col­leges (GPs, Pae­di­a­tri­cians and Psy­chi­a­trists) have called for bet­ter ser­vices for the 850,000 UK chil­dren and young peo­ple (CYP) es­ti­mated to need help for men­tal health prob­lems. Cur­rently only a quar­ter re­ceive spe­cial­ist care. They say CYP men­tal health is ev­ery­one’s re­spon­si­bil­ity and their five-point plan calls for a co-or­di­nated ap­proach from the rel­e­vant ser­vices.
