Demanding the most attention these days are the Cocktail Pinks, bred by Whetman (whetmanpinks.com). It took seven years for the company to develop this range, which has large, scented flowers that last for ages in a vase. there are five varieties in all: ✿ Mojito, white with citrus centre.

✿ Cherry Daiquiri, whose petals have a beautiful lilac blush. ✿ Candyfloss pink ‘Shirley temple’, with a red central eye. ✿ Cosmopolitan, that has stunning redcurrant-coloured blooms. ✿ tequila sunrise, admired for its peach flowers with an apricot eye. Whetman’s star Collection is also a good cut flower, especially the variety ‘mystic,’ which has dark maroon petals edged with white and has a rich chocolate fragrance – delicious!
