Dear Dad

Woman's Weekly (UK) - - Hello! - Esme Clemo, Home & Craft Editor

Dads, you can’t live with them and you can’t live without them, as our writer Jo Carnegie reminisces, delving into her teenage diaries on page 10. My dad has always been a superhero in my eyes. When things go wrong, he picks me up, dusts me off and sends me on my merry way into the world. He’s been a glorified taxi service, normally handing me a tenner at the end of the ride and giving me a hug goodbye. He’s been my rescue service, driving two hours to free me from my living room where I’d become trapped by a broken door handle. More than that, though, he’s encouraged me to enjoy life, work hard, feel confident with a power tool, do-it-yourself whenever possible and to relish a challenge. I’m off to get his Father’s Day card now – don’t forget it’s on Sunday 17 June.
