Paint frames and sills

-

a lick of paint is all you need to transform the look of tired, old frames and increase the kerb appeal of your property. Wooden frames are easily painted with speciality exterior paint to help maintain their condition. Begin by filling holes and cracks with wood filler, and then lightly sand the frame. Brush away any dust, and wipe the surface clean with white spirit. Use masking tape to protect the window panels. apply two to three coats of ronseal Weatherproof Wood Paint, £18 for 75ml from B&Q; it comes in a range of neutral colours, including this duck egg satin. the windows will be weatherproof an hour after the final coat. even uPVC frames can be painted using sandtex PVC-U Primer, £19 for 75ml, from Homebase. it’s a bit more time-consuming but enables a coat of exterior satin or gloss paint to be applied on top.
