Get ready to sweat your socks off at the Ath­letic a class atf 45

WHAT IS IT?

F45 is a fit­ness stu­dio orig­i­nally hail­ing from the land down un­der. Its re­cently opened a new stu­dio in Tot­ten­ham Court Road, with an­other 31 sites set to open in the UK. We were lucky enough to go along to try out its fa­mously gru­elling Ath­let­ica class, and boy were we drenched in sweat by the end of it. The class is made up of three sec­tions, with each con­sist­ing of a se­ries of three dif­fer­ent ex­er­cises. Each ex­er­cise is bro­ken down into 20 sec­onds of work and 10 sec­onds of rest, which we did four times. Once we com­pleted the first sec­tion, we’d run through all three ex­er­cises again be­fore mov­ing onto the next sec­tion of the class and re­peat­ing the process. We did a to­tal of 18 ex­er­cises through­out the class, tak­ing on burpees, squat jumps with sledge­ham­mers, squat up­right rows with ket­tle­bells, Rus­sian twists with medicine balls, hur­dles, bat­tle ropes and sled pushes, to name just a few.

WHAT ARE THE BEN­E­FITS?

The Ath­let­ica class at F45 is car­dio-based, which means that you can ex­pect your fit­ness to im­prove from it. The high-in­ten­sity na­ture of this class will also pro­mote fat burn, so it’s ideal if you’re look­ing to shed a few pounds. On top of that, F45 also in­cor­po­rates a num­ber of dif­fer­ent weight ex­er­cises into its Ath­let­ica class, so you can be sure that you’re go­ing to put your whole body to the test. Ar­eas of your body that you may nor­mally get away with ne­glect­ing will no longer be for­got­ten about. There’s no hid­ing at F45!

HOW HARD IS IT?

They def­i­nitely push you hard at F45, but the rush of adren­a­line pump­ing through your veins will keep you go­ing and the up­beat mu­sic res­onat­ing around the room is a great mo­ti­va­tor. The va­ri­ety in the Ath­let­ica class means that you work your en­tire body and the short du­ra­tions of each ex­er­cise help to keep your mind fo­cused. You’ll be sur­prised at how a break as short as 10 sec­onds in be­tween each ex­er­cise can help you re­store enough en­ergy for the next round of burpees. Ex­pect to be doused in well-earned sweat by the end of the class and to be re­warded with a surge of en­dor­phins for a job well done.
