L-me­thio­n­ine is an es­sen­tial amino acid, found in pro­tein foods, and it plays an im­por­tant role in the health of new blood ves­sels and help­ing to heal wounds. It also con­tains sul­phur, which we need for growth and a healthy me­tab­o­lism, and is in­volved in an im­por­tant chem­i­cal path­way for key neu­ro­trans­mit­ters such as dopamine, sero­tonin and mela­tonin.
