Women's Health (UK) - - BRIEF -

Fluorescent yellow washes you out? Helmet hair cramps your style? Well, cycling to work may be worth the sacrifice because a study by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine found that you’ll have a lower BMI and less body fat than if you plod in on foot. Cycling (faster than 10mph, come on) burns more calories per mile than walking, and working bursts of exercise into your daily routine will keep you trim in the long term. Too far to cycle? Public transport is the next best thing: get off the bus early or run up the escalator – do squats on the tram – anything but the car.
