Still a committed carnivore? Then console yourself with the fact that, as long as you’re living a healthy lifestyle, your choice of animal protein makes a big difference – ditch red meat for chicken or fish and you’ll have the same lowered risk as your plant-based counterparts. One last nugget: if you’re going vegan on your shake, know that ‘hemp has about 15g less protein per scoop than whey, so you’ll need to double your serving,’ says Krystina Reimer, head of nutrition and PT at London gym Lomax.
