Great grey owl

World of Animals - - The Wildlife Of Yellowstone National Park -

Great grey owls have large, distinctive facial discs around their eyes, which help filter sound towards their ear holes. This means they have incredibly good hearing and can even detect rodents scurrying over half a metre (1.6 feet) under snow. The owls’ long, feathered legs also help them to cope with catching prey in winter.
