Explore rock pools

World of Animals - - How To Become A Seaside Explorer -

On still, dry days when the tide is out, rock pools teeming with fascinating creatures are revealed. Kneel down and peer into the water and you might be able to spot anemones, sea slugs, fish, prawns and even starfish. By slowly moving rocks and seaweed, you’ll uncover some of the more cautious animals like crabs. Most crabs are timid, but watch out for the red-eyed blue velvet swimming crab, which will snap at your fingers if you worry it. Bring an identification guide next time you head for the sea, or take photos of your finds so you can look them up at home once you’ve got all the sand out of your shoes.
