the quiet man
No need to stay quiet for this collection of great upcoming games
The Quiet Man
Publisher Square Enix developer Square Enix due TBC
With a mix of live-action sequences featuring real actors and CG gameplay sections, this mystery feels very much like the kind of gaming experiment you’d get back in the ’90s because graphics weren’t so good then. You play as a deaf protagonist called Dane as he explores New York while trying to solve the kidnapping of a singer by a man in a weird mask.
The Surge 2
Publisher Focus Home Interactive developer Deck 13 due 2019
A follow-up to the sci-fi action RPG that first released in 2017 and aims for Dark
Souls- style combat with a robotic twist. We might not have got on with the original last year, but it found its stride thanks to its fantastic futuristic setting, and what we’ve seen of recent gameplay footage is promising. It’s said to take place in a larger city and boast even more brutal combat.
Resident Evil 2
Publisher Capcom developer Capcom due 25 Jan 2019
We got a peak at how the Resi 2 remake is coming along thanks to some footage starring Claire Redfield and child Sherry Birkin. It’s looking fantastic, balancing the old-school look and feel of the original while also making full use of modern tech and shifting tastes in gameplay. We see her face off against William Birkin, who’s mutated into a horrible monster.
The Miss ing
Publisher Arc System Works developer White Owl due Winter
This is being made by the brains behind the bizarre Deadly Premonition so you can expect things to get pretty strange. It focuses on a hero who seems to be getting herself mixed up in all sorts of untimely deaths such as electrocution, being smashed by a wrecking ball and dismemberment by way of giant fan, but death doesn’t appear to be the end…
Publisher Crytek developer Crytek due Game Preview: 2018
This co-op shooter is soon coming to Game Preview. Work together to banish swampy monsters for a hefty reward to spend on better gear. There’s just one problem: as soon as you defeat a ghoul you’ll alert everyone else on the map to the fact that you’ve a buttload of money and they’ll come hunting for you as well. Monsters aren’t the only thing you’ll have to be wary about.
Publisher Bandai Namco developer Round 8 Studio due 2019
This newly announced free-to-play MMO has a little of the Monster Hunter about it thanks to some impressive creature design. Unlike most MMO s it’s being designed with console in mind first, with more interactive, combo-based combat, so it should be perfect for controllers compared to other games where keyboard and mouse buttons are clumsily mapped to gamepads.
