Hanse, the second largest boatbuilder in the world, last month launched four new boats on the same day. Graham Snook takes a look at the new arrivals
Hanse has launched an entry-level boat as well as three new models from 34ft to 54ft. Graham Snook takes a look
Hanse’s new 348, 388, 418 and 548 are said to be inspired by the Greek classical elements: Air, Earth, Fire and Water, but looking at the website it feels as if they’ve been inspired by the TV drama Game of Thrones.
The hulls of the 348, 388 and 418 are the same as the models they replace (345, 385 and 415). Only the 548 is an all-new boat. But they all have larger or increased numbers of hatched, portlights and additional hull windows. While the layouts are similar, interior modifications and restyling, and some new deck modifications make these ‘new’ boats. They should be stiffer with a deeper draught and, in some cases, increased sail area too. So while the layout is the same, they'll all have a lighter, more modern feel.
The 388, 418 and 548 should all be appearing at Southampton Boat Show with the 348 following the month after.
