Don’t go there
I enjoyed Skip Novak’s article on your website about contributing to a cruising guide of Antarctica. I like the guy, but if he is so worried, maybe he should just stop going there and set an example.
Of course this is the way he earns a living, so there is a bit of a conflict of interests going on really. A dilemma even...
Antarctica won’t become very popular just because of his contribution to this guide, let’s face it. Unlike trekking in the Himalayas, it takes more time, has more risks and there is no base camp you can return to. Access by emergency services is much slower and unless global warming speeds up and warms up everything overnight, it will remain as it is – rarely visited.
And just to be doubly sure, he can include scary things in his guide to discourage general population as well.
Sorry to be rough, but that’s how I see it.
