I en­joyed Skip No­vak’s ar­ti­cle on your web­site about con­tribut­ing to a cruising guide of Antarc­tica. I like the guy, but if he is so wor­ried, maybe he should just stop go­ing there and set an ex­am­ple.

Of course this is the way he earns a liv­ing, so there is a bit of a con­flict of in­ter­ests go­ing on re­ally. A dilemma even...

Antarc­tica won’t be­come very pop­u­lar just be­cause of his con­tri­bu­tion to this guide, let’s face it. Un­like trekking in the Hi­malayas, it takes more time, has more risks and there is no base camp you can re­turn to. Ac­cess by emer­gency ser­vices is much slower and un­less global warm­ing speeds up and warms up ev­ery­thing overnight, it will re­main as it is – rarely vis­ited.

And just to be dou­bly sure, he can in­clude scary things in his guide to dis­cour­age gen­eral pop­u­la­tion as well.
