Royal Huisman has collaborated with Frers Naval Architecture to produce a 130ft sailing superyacht concept called PURA which combines many of the benefits of a full custom boat, with the time, cost and convenience advantages of a repeatable design.

PURA has proven design and engineering – 80% of the yacht is already done, including rig, sailplan, keel, propulsion, structure and hydraulics.

Examples of successful repeatable superyacht designs include those by Wally, Nautor’s Swan and Hoek Design’s Truly Classic. These have all involved a relatively uniform aesthetic look. For PURA, Mani Frers has drawn three very differentlooking versions, with classic, retro or modern performance styles. Customisation comes from the fact Frers can create different bow and stern profiles, hull sheer and superstructure shapes, while the interior is open to individual choice.

PURA hull and superstructure designs can be simply classic...
