Prop blades slant or curve for­ward (or back in re­verse). This pitch is usu­ally mea­sured in inches, and refers to the dis­tance the pro­pel­ler would ad­vance in one rev­o­lu­tion if it gripped the wa­ter per­fectly with­out slip­page. Imag­ine your prop is a screw – the pitch is how far into the wood the screw ad­vances with one full turn.
