Cirrus’s supply deal with Costa Rica
THE YORKSHIRE-BASED noise monitoring specialists Cirrus Research has completed a six-figure contract to supply the Costa Rican government with a system to cut noise pollution.
The order for 50 of the company’s ‘Optimus Reds’ was shipped to the country where they are going to be deployed by the government’s road safety council in a campaign to reduce traffic noise pollution in some of its cities such as the capital, San Jose.
A spokesman for the company, which is based in Hunmanby, near Bridlington, said: “The Optimus Red kits had already been used by the Costa Rican police force and proved so popular among the officers for its userfriendly application and reading accuracy that the road safety council followed suit.
“The project and the kits were even featured on the national news in Costa Rica, as part of a story about how officers were trying to tackle traffic noise pollution on the streets.”
