Swital­skis gets in the Pow­er­chair

A LAW firm is team­ing up with the York­shire Pow­er­chair Foot­ball Fed­er­a­tion to sup­port the fast-paced sport for pow­ered wheel­chair users.

Swital­skis Solic­i­tors launched its three-year part­ner­ship on Novem­ber 5 at the league’s first Leeds event, which took place at the Edge sports cen­tre at Leeds Univer­sity.

Suzanne Mun­roe, a di­rec­tor at Swital­skis, said: “We are ex­tremely proud to be work­ing with the York­shire Pow­er­chair Foot­ball Fed­er­a­tion in or­der to pro­vide more play­ers with the op­por­tu­nity to take part in this fan­tas­tic sport. As a so­lic­i­tor who has worked in the field of clin­i­cal neg­li­gence for many years, I have seen first-hand the real pos­i­tive im­pact such sports can have on our clients.”

Backed by the Wheel­chair Foot­ball As­so­ci­a­tion, pow­er­chair foot­ball of­fers play­ers of all ages the op­por­tu­nity to com­pete in four-a-side games us­ing elec­tric wheel­chairs and a 33cm di­am­e­ter foot­ball.

Usu­ally hosted at the Edge sports cen­tre at Leeds Univer­sity, the Swital­skis York­shire Pow­er­chair League will be hold­ing at least four events across the sea­son.

Swital­skis Solic­i­tors has been in­volved with pow­er­chair foot­ball for around three years, af­ter a coach at Leeds Pow­er­chair Foot­ball Club and fa­ther of one of their clients ap­proached the firm with a pro­posal to fund his club’s uni­forms.

Fol­low­ing a suc­cess­ful part­ner­ship with Leeds PFC, Swital­skis is ex­tend­ing its sup­port to the York­shire league to en­able them to de­velop the sport.
