Cen­tamin suf­fers knock in trad­ing

Miner Cen­tamin was knocked in trad­ing on Mon­day af­ter it said low-grade gold at its mine in Egypt had re­duced pro­duc­tion by 25 per cent. In af­ter­noon trad­ing shares were down five per cent to 111.4p. The news comes af­ter Cen­tamin cut its pro­duc­tion guid­ance in May. The com­pany’s chief ex­ec­u­tive An­drew Pardey said min­ing ef­forts had started to reach high­erqual­ity gold, and that the firm was fo­cus­ing on bring­ing op­er­a­tions back in line with mar­ket fore­casts.
