SATCase to be tested in Antarc­tic

Ex­treme tem­per­a­tures and a hos­tile Antarc­tic en­vi­ron­ment is set to be the test­ing ground for a new satel­lite com­mu­ni­ca­tions prod­uct pro­duced by Barns­ley-based SATcase.

SATcase has an­nounced a part­ner­ship with for­mer Royal Marine Com­mando, Reg­i­men­tal Sergeant Ma­jor Barry Gray, left, who is em­bark­ing on The Chal­lenge Antarc­tica pro­ject.

He will jour­ney from Her­cules In­let to the South Pole solo.

Phase two will see him at­tempt to cross the en­tire Antarc­tic con­ti­nent from coast to coast in­clud­ing the two per­ma­nent ice shelves.

SATcase’s de­vice will al­low Mr Gray to make calls and fea­tures an SOS track and trace fa­cil­ity.
