Controversial art to go on show

THE work of Turner Prizewinning artist Martin Creed will be featured as part of the Artist’s Rooms series of exhibitions from this weekend at Hull’s Ferens Art Gallery.

Creed, who has been the butt of many jokes about contemporary art, shot to infamy with his installation No 227: The lights going on and off, which featured an empty gallery with the lights going on and off.

His work, which is on show until October 6, is not, as some commentators have noted, an elaborate joke – he brings wonder and intrigue to objects that we take for granted.
