KNEE­HIGH Theatre was founded in 1980 by Mike Shep­herd.

Its ear­li­est pro­duc­tions were per­formed in vil­lage halls, mar­quees, cliff tops and quar­ries.

Their pro­duc­tions are of­ten based around myths, leg­ends, fairy­tales and folk sto­ries such as the Hans Chris­tian An­der­sen fairy­tale The Red Shoes. Other pro­duc­tions in­clude The Bac­chae, The Wooden Frock, The Wild Bride and the Cor­nish le­gend Tris­tan and Yseult.

The com­pany in­cor­po­rate var­i­ous the­atri­cal ele­ments into their shows in­clud­ing pup­petry, dance, live mu­sic and an em­pha­sis on vis­ual im­agery.
