Art to help plight of the ele­phants

AN artist who grew up and stud­ied in the re­gion will ex­hibit a se­ries of paint­ings.

John Gled­hill has cre­ated a se­ries of extinction-themed paint­ings in part­ner­ship with the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.

A lino print of The Last Ele­phant is be­ing ex­hib­ited at the Zil­lah Bell Gallery in Thirsk, with 50 per cent of the sale of his art­works be­ing do­nated to the trust.

The char­ity looks af­ter the most suc­cess­ful or­phan ele­phant res­cue and re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion pro­gramme in the world, for East Africa.
