All-electric Leaf takes top award
HARDLY anyone has driven it or even seen it but Nissan’s Leaf family car, on sale here soon, is the first all-electric car to be voted European Car of the Year. It beat the shortlisted Alfa Romeo Giulietta, Citroën C3/DS3, Dacia Duster, Ford C-Max/ Grand C-Max, Opel/Vauxhall Meriva and Volvo S60/V60. Leaf, slated for the Sunderland factory, scored 257 points, against the 248 points of Alfa Romeo Giulietta. Meriva took a creditable third place, with 244 points.
