Low-visibility model refreshed
SEAT’S Audi A4-derived Exeo saloon and estate have been refreshed for the autumn, with a premiere at the Frankfurt Show.
The model has been scarcely visible in the UK, overwhelmed by the abundance of middle-market cars and, I think, a lack of effective publicity. For the 2012 model there are subtle visual changes, with LED daytime running lights either standard or optional (making them standard may have been a better plan to get the Exeo noticed) and the introduction of brighter bi-xenon headlamps, regrades for cabin trim, alloy wheels and so on. The two-litre diesel has been re-tuned to give provisional figures of 57.6mpg and 129g/km of CO2. There will be a stop-start model capable of 120g/km. Price are from £19,285 – competing with the VW Jetta saloon, Golf Estate.
MG also needs to raise its profile after returning to the UK. Its 2011 offerings are the MG6 GT fastback and the Magnette saloon. Prices start at £15,459 and £15,995 respectively.
