Now’s the smart time to buy a car
GLASS’S says now is the right time to buy a car, whether new or used. Why? Most buyers don’t come out of hibernation until the early spring.
This means January – a traditionally quiet period for car sales – can be the perfect time to look for a good deal with dealers likely to welcome you with open arms. The exception is the 4x4, in demand after a run of white winters.
SEAT begins its 2012 with “best-ever” offers on the Ibiza, which may be suffering from demand for its sister, the VW Polo. A discount of £2,310 off the Ibiza SC 1.4 16V SE Copa brings its price down to £9,995. while similar discounts off the corresponding Ibiza 5dr and Ibiza ST models see their prices slashed to just £10,495 and £11,205 respectively. The Golf-sized Leon has savings up to £3,085.
HONDA starts its year by offering incentives on the Jazz, CR-V or Insight. The offers include four years’ free servicing with roadside assistance and a zero deposit finance plan – the first from Honda. Its big news is the arrival of the latest Swindonbuilt Civic.
GERMANY’S prestige tyremaker, Continental, has announced tyres specific to electric vehicles. The Conti. econtact has “exceptionally low rolling resistance levels and low noise outputs, whilst coping with the torque generated by an electric vehicle,” says Continental. The first size is for a 13-inch wheel.
VOLVO’S recovery continues, with a 20 per cent increase in sales of 449,255 last year. It positions itself as the “fastest growing luxury car maker.” Sales in China (home to Volvo’s owner) soared by 54 per cent.
