Mercedes rings changes with C Class range

Yorkshire Post - Motoring - - FRONT PAGE - Carmel Stewart

MERCEDES is revamping and simplifying part of its C Class range – but not drastically so.

A new AMG Sport Edition replaces the AMG Sport and AMG Sport Plus model lines but ‘new’ doesn’t mean anything more than the addition of a spoiler, tinted headlamps and a high gloss black grille on the outside and new upholstery patterns and stitching plus aluminium highlights inside.

The AMG body styling, steering wheel, alloys and 15mm lower sports suspension from the outgoing AMG Sport model have been retained.

The engine and trim options have been simplified. Previously there were 47 variants, including seven engines and three model lines. The 2014 changes have reduced that to 19 consisting of two trims and four engines.

The new AMG Sport Edition is available on C 220 CDI and C 250 CDI engines at an on-the- road price of £30,170 for the saloon, £31,370 for the estate and £32,455 for the coupé.

Mercedes has added a few special packages to sweeten the deal – the Premium Package at £1,595 includes COMAND Online with Media Interface, reversing camera, heated front seats, lighting package and DAB digital radio.

The Premium Plus Package at £2,495 includes the same content as the Premium pack but with a panoramic glass sunroof.

REVAMPED: Mercedes C-Class AMG.
