Rents are downon last year’s fig­ures

Rents in York­shire re­mained sta­ble in March, stand­ing at an av­er­age of £535pcm, but year-on-year rents are down 9.3 per cent.

Rents in Leeds fell by 1.5 per cent to £517pcm and are now 14 per cent lower than in March 2009, ac­cord­ing to Fi­naprop­erty.com, and Sh­effield suf­fered a 4.6 per cent fall in rents to £514pcm, 4.8 per cent lower than a year ago.

The num­ber of prop­er­ties avail­able to rent fell by 7.5 per cent. Nigel Lewis, prop­erty ex­pert at Fin­daProp­erty.com, says: “Hav­ing en­joyed a re­nais­sance since Christ­mas, rents in York­shire have stalled in March.”
