Holiday lets hail end of repeal plan

The Government has been forced to drop a number of items from the Finance Bill including the repeal of rules which allow furnished holiday letting businesses to be taxed as trading businesses, like B&Bs and hotels, rather than residential property letting businesses. The repeal generated widespread opposition. Geoff Cowlery, of Holiday Cottages Group, based in Earby, says: “Over the 12 months since the repeal was first proposed we have worked closely with industry, civil servants and politicians of all parties to highlight the negative impact the repeal would have on small businesses.”
