Demand for private rented property continues to grow.

Paragon Mortgages’ Trends Report reveals nearly a quarter of landlords saw levels of tenant demand increas during the first quarter of the year.

Paragon Mortgages’ managing director John Heron says: “Tenant demand has been growing consistently over the past two years, but it looks set to remain healthy in future years. Renting is no longer seen as the tenure of last resort, increasing numbers of people are now actively choosing rented accommodation as a lifestyle choice, preferring the flexibility and choice that it offers. The introduction of buyto-let finance in the mid-1990s helped revitalise the private rented sector, and standards and choice have both improved.”
