High hopes for new Housing Minister

Yorkshire Post - Property - - PROPERTY -

The appointment of Grant Shapps as Housing Minister has been welcomed by the affordable housing sector.

Sue Cocking, of Knight Frank says: “Many of the policies outlined so far by the Conservatives are well received. We expect key housing policies under Grant Shapps to focus on delivering more affordable homes, reform of local government finance and deconstruction of regional planning bodies to allow more local control over planning, HCA budgets and housing delivery.” But there is concern that the Housing Minister has been dropped from Cabinet meetings. This could make housing more vulnerable to public sector cuts.
