A lack of supply is pushing rents higher in the North of England, signalling a revival in the region’s rental market, according to the latest RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) Lettings Survey.

The net balance of chartered surveyors in the North reporting rising rather than falling rents rose to 20 per cent from -13 per cent back in January.

RICS Yorkshire housing spokesperson, Jon Charters-Reid of Charters-Reid Associates in York, says: “We have seen a good increase in demand for rental properties recently, with the mortgage market as it stands continuing to drive this demand.”
