The sale of Ragged Ray, the derelict house beneath the White Horse at Kilburn, North Yorkshire, made £62,000 at auction even though it cannot be lived in.

National Park planners say it has lost its residential status after lying empty for more than 50 years.

Robin Jessop, who conducted the auction, was pleased with the result, which was above the guide price of between £30,000 to £40,000.
