JULIETTE’S KITCHEN MUST-HAVES
■ A Neff fan oven. I’ve cooked with others that burn food on one side and don’t have even heat distribution. I’ve had a Neff for years and they make the best Yorkshire puddings.
■ An island. These are not just for show. they act as a work station, so you can chop and cook while facing your family/friends. Otherwise you have your back to them. It allows you to interact.
■ Pepper pot radiators. They add wow factor to a kitchen.
■ Dualit toaster. I love the way this looks and it makes brilliant toast.
■ Lots of storage. This is a must to avoid mess and clutter. I love pan drawers. I have six of them in my kitchen. They are great for storing everything. I have a full dinner service in one. It’s easier than reaching up to cupboards all the time.
■ White plates. These are a must for any cook and I learnt that on Masterchef when the programme makers told me I had to have them. They just show off the food better than anything else.
■ Thermomix. This German-made food processor is costly at £950 but it features in a lot of professional kitchens and it does just about everything from blending and milling to steaming and mixing. It also heats as it blends. It helps make the perfect soup and pasta sauces. (www.ukthermomix.com)
