Yorkshire Post - Property - - PROPERTY -

The Mulgrave Estate has a double celebration after landing a prestigious award for its sensitive conversion of a disused chapel and winning planning approval for an Art Deco-style apartment development on the seafront at Sandsend.

The estate, which manages 15,000-acres of land and property from its base near Whitby in North Yorkshire, won the North York Moors National Park Authority’s inaugural Design Award for Best New Dwelling.

The judges praised the estate’s approach to work at the former chapel and cottage at Dunsley, a hamlet to the east of Whitby. They singled out the“excellent mix” of conservation and innovation at the sites.

Architects BHD Partnership and contractors SiteRite Building, both of Whitby, were thanked for their roles in the project. The cottage is now let.
