Tale of sales in two cities
Apartments in the Granary Wharf development, Leeds are selling well proving there is life in the Leeds city centre market.
The canal side development has 288 flats, of which 100 have been sold and there are 30 reservations. Most buyers are owner occupiers, rather than investors, according to Guy Ackernley, partner at King Sturge, Leeds. One bedroom apartments cost £130,000 and two bedroom flats £175,000.
Over in York, Ben Pridden of Savills reveals that prime property in the city is outselling other areas. He says: “Under normal circumstance August is a quiet month, but this year we had a fine run. By the end of the month we had sold 10 properties with a combined value of £6.3m.”
