HARROGATE’S Feather Smailes Scales has become the first estate agent in the UK to be licensed under a new scheme to help customers choose qualified professionals.

The licence was launched at the House of Commons by the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA), which aims to protect consumers from unprofessional agents.

Charles Smailes, partner at Feather Smailes Scales and a past president of the NAEA, says: “I believe that every estate agent should belong to a licensing scheme, That way consumers know, that they are dealing with an experienced, well-trained professional. It will also stamp out any unscrupulous agents from practising.”
