Remote properties prove in demand
CUNDALLS in Malton are celebrating the success of their latest auction, which saw a remote North York Moors farmstead sell for well over the guide price.
Red House Farmhouse, in Rosedale, had a guide price of £155,000 and went under the hammer for £232,000, while the neighbouring derelict cottage started at £45,000, as it had lost its right to be classed as a dwelling. That was sold for £166,000. “We were amazed. We had interest from all over the country and the auction house packed,” says estate agent Tom Watson.
“But properties like this are rare and they have an appeal for people who want to change their lifestyle and escape to the country.”
