York­shire bet­ter than av­er­age

THE lat­est data from the Agency Ex­press Prop­erty Ac­tiv­ity In­dex shows that monthly house sales in York­shire fell in Novem­ber, but it was a less sig­nif­i­cant drop than had been ex­pected.

It found that the num­ber of res­i­den­tial house sales agreed in the county fell by 11.5 per cent com­pared to an av­er­age 5.8 per cent drop in the UK as a whole.

Com­pared to Novem­ber 2009, sales were down 29.6 per cent but up 53.3 per cent on Novem­ber 2008. In York, house sales fell by 6.4 per cent and in Leeds they were down 20 per cent.

The num­ber of new For Sale signs that went up in York­shire in Novem­ber was down 6.7 per cent and the num­ber of prop­er­ties put on the mar­ket was 21.9 per cent lower.
