entrance hall, lounge and a 27ft long, light-filled sitting room with six large windows with views over open countryside. The dining room has original built-in cupboards and the drawing room features period panelling. The ground-floor also has a breakfast kitchen, cloakroom and utility room. On the first floor, there is a landing with double door onto a balcony, two store cupboards, a master bedroom with en-suite bathroom, a guest suite with shower room, two more bedrooms and a family bathroom. There are cellars for storage. Outside, there are landscaped gardens, a pond with waterfall and a car port.

“We have been here 15 years and bought it because we we lived in Cumberworth before and thought we’d better be closer to civilisation,” says Mrs Garside.

“We love the size of the rooms and the gardens here and then house has a lot of character. The main part is Georgian, but the back of the house was two cottages from the early 1700s and so that has quite a different feel.”

The couple say they are selling “with regret” to downsize once again. “We are getting older, so we plan to move somewhere smaller,” says Mrs Garside.

OPEN ASPECT: The Georgian house has magnificent views.
