Million-plus homes a rarity in region
THE best performing postcodes for £1m-plus homes outside London and the South-East over the last three years include Harrogate and Ilkley.
That’s no surprise, but Savills say sales of £1m plus homes in Yorkshire represent just one per cent of the total market between 2007 and 2010. Over half the sales have been in London and a quarter in the South East.
There has been a decrease in sales of 16 per cent over the period in London and a fall of 39 per cent in Yorkshire.
Between 2009 and 2010, sales increased by 36 per cent in London and fell by just five per cent in Yorkshire. Savills say the top end of the property market was more buoyant in 2010 than the middle and lower end.
