THERE is a rash of house price re­ports this week. The most re­spected in­di­ca­tor the Land Reg­istry In­dex re­veals that March prices were down 1.1 per cent and there was an an­nual fall of 2.3 per cent.

This brings the av­er­age house price in Eng­land and Wales to £160,996.

The only re­gion to ex­pe­ri­ence an in­crease in its an­nual price change is Lon­don, with a rise of 0.8 per cent.

The re­gion with the great­est an­nual price fall is the North-East with a move­ment of -9.3 per cent.

In York­shire, prices fell by one per cent in March and by 5.19 per cent over the year, leav­ing the av­er­age price at £120,567.

The Na­tion­wide re­ports that prices fell by 0.2 per cent in April.
