York con­tem­po­rary home wins award

NICK Mid­g­ley of NMDA Ar­chi­tects and his client Michael Ham­mill, of Yor­build, won the 2011 York De­sign Award for New Build Res­i­den­tial at a pre­sen­ta­tion hosted by the notable ar­chi­tect, Prof Robert Adam, who was also the chair­man of the judges.

The prop­erty on Windmill Rise is a strik­ing con­tem­po­rary home that gives a 21st-cen­tury ad­di­tion to the area.

The awards pro­mote “qual­ity of de­sign, con­text, ma­te­ri­als and work­man­ship, sus­tain­abil­ity and the abil­ity to de­light” and were con­ceived by and or­gan­ised by for­mer coun­cil­lor Janet Hop­ton for projects within the boundary of the City of York.
