Confidence wanes over price rises

Yorkshire Post - Property - - PROPERTY -

LONDONERS expect house prices to rise 6.2 per cent by Christmas but home owners in the regions are less confident.

Although 57 per cent of home owners expect house prices to rise over the next six months, the proportion has fallen from the 59 per cent in March. In early 2010, 81 per cent of home owners thought prices would rise, according to property portal Zoopla.

Those who do think house prices will rise are predicting an uplift of 2.6 per cent over the next six months.

Tight lending conditions continue to trouble consumers, with nearly one-third (32 per cent) of home owners surveyed saying that it is harder to get a mortgage now than three months ago.
