Put your money into country life
COUNTRY estate ownership proved to be one of the best investments last year in terms of asset performance. While fine wine and gold continue to lead the pack in the chase to become “best in class”, tax advantages to estate-ownership give it a leading edge over these trophy assets, according to the latest research by property consultancy Carter Jonas.
Tom Fawcett of Carter Jonas, Harrogate, says: “The capital growth of fine wine, gold and even classic cars is of interest but it should be remembered that they do not offer a revenue return and can incur significant expense as an asset. We believe that in the framework of the UK tax regime that estate ownership holds its own in terms of prestige and pure performance.”
