Bairstow deal sees Hunters double size
YORK-BASED estate agency group Hunters has bought all 90 of the Bairstow Eves franchised branches from Countrywide.
The deal has doubled the size of Hunters, giving it almost 200 agencies nationwide and is an enormous boost to its bid to become the biggest in the UK.
MD Kevin Hollinrake, who cofounded the firm in 1992, says: “The recession was grim for us, as it was for most estate agents, but it never blunted our appetite to grow.
“It made no difference to our ambition to become the UKs biggest and favourite independent estate agent.”
Countrywide is keeping its 150 Bairstow Eves wholly owned branches.
