Ask­ing prices hold­ing steady

THE mix-ad­justed av­er­age ask­ing price for homes on the mar­ket in Eng­land and Wales re­mains un­changed since Oc­to­ber, ac­cord­ing to the Ask­ing price In­dex.

Home prices fell in seven out of nine of the English re­gions and in Scot­land and Wales, dur­ing the last month. Greater Lon­don and the South East showed gains.

The typ­i­cal time on mar­ket, ac­cord­ing to the HAPI In­dex is now 128 days, though sup­ply of new prop­er­ties to the UK mar­ket in Oc­to­ber was 15 per cent less than in Oc­to­ber 2010. Greater Lon­don sup­ply was down even fur­ther by -21 per cent.

In York­shire ask­ing prices have dropped by 1.2 per cent in the last six months com­pared to a 0.1 per cent national av­er­age.
