Solar panel market plunged in gloom

FOLLOWING the recent Feed in Tariff reduction announcement, the UK solar industry has been thrown into disarray.

With questions being raised about the legality of the consultation period and lawsuits threatened, investors in the UK renewable market have been spooked, say Savills Energy.

While the cuts to the generous tarrif were widely predicted, it is the timetable for their implementation that has caused the greatest uproar. Miles Thomas, head of Savills Energy says that many schemes in the final design stages will fail to meet the proposed tariff deadline of December 12, which is before the consultation deadline.

Miles says the government must re-assure the market.
