Government plans hit solar hopes
SOLAR panel experts are warning that nine out 10 householders may not be eligible for Government green incentives come April.
The Feed in Tariff scheme introduced by the last government, where homeowners are paid for generating electricity, has been popular, earning householders up to a 15 per cent return on their investment.
The Government is proposing that only houses with an energy efficiency rating of C or above will be eligible for the scheme, and this will come into effect in April next year.
Peter Bladen, managing director of solar panel firm BSOLAR, says: “Much of our building stock is older properties, which won’t reach the efficiency C rating.”
